Many aircrafts were shot down in Vietnam, but were not destroyed. The Air Force created the giant HH-53C Super Jolly Green Giant to rescue the downed pilots and to hoist the shot down aircraft. This huge machine owes its loading capability to the great Skycrane helicopter. The Super Jolly contained armor protection and extra fuel for a six man crew on a rescue mission. The Super Jolly was used by the U.S. Navy, Marines, and Air Force.
